Bremerhaven

Our Bremerhaven plant is the largest location and headquarters of FRoSTA AG. Frozen fish products have been produced here since 1962. Later, fruit and vegetable products were added, followed in the 80s by the production of frozen ready meals. Since the end of the 1990s there has been a production line for the manufacture of frozen pasta. In Bremerhaven, an extraordinarily large product range is manufactured with a focus on deep-frozen fish products and ready meals. The high quality and hygiene standards are confirmed by numerous certificates such as DIN ISO 50001; BRC, IFS and last but not least by an organic certificate according to the EC regulation for organic farming. This company is also MSC and RSPO certified.

Our fish products include fish fingers, gourmet fillets, breaded products and natural fillets in various sauces. The Bremerhaven plant also specializes in the production of frozen ready meals. This also includes a production line for the manufacture of frozen pasta, an important ingredient in many of our dishes. FRoSTA brand dishes are also produced in Bremerhaven. This is why the production here is completely geared to the requirements of the purity law: since, for example, there is no separating agent (trickle aids) in the salt, the salt agglutinates and must be crushed before production begins in the specially developed salt mill.

Our production plant in Bremerhaven currently employs around 600 people from over 20 nations, including many trainees.

Elbtal

Our third plant in Germany, Elbtal, is also located in the middle of one of the best vegetable growing areas in Germany: Lommatzscher Pflege near Meissen (Saxony). Our plant in Elbtal has been processing vegetables for almost 100 years. It has belonged to FRoSTA AG since 1990. The Elbtal plant is located in the middle of Lommatzscher Pflege, between Leipzig and Dresden. The loess floors of Lommatzscher Pflege are particularly fertile. This is why vegetables have been grown here since the Middle Ages. Our vegetables are grown under contract around the Elbtal plant and are harvested with our own machines. After the short way from the field to the factory, the fresh vegetables are gently processed and immediately frozen. In this way, all valuable ingredients are preserved. The season begins in April with the spinach harvest. The peas follow from June, then beans and carrots from August. Cabbage is harvested and processed in late autumn. The high quality and hygiene standards are confirmed by numerous certificates, such as DIN ISO 50001, IFS, RSPO and last but not least by an organic certificate according to the EC regulation for organic farming. The proportion of organic vegetables in the Elbtal plant is already 15% and rising. Here we work together with various organic farming associations such as Bioland and GÄA.

The number of employees is over 160, 11 of whom are trainees. During the harvest, up to 50 seasonal workers are additionally employed.

Rheintal

The Rheintal plant, located near Worms, has been 60% owned by FRoSTA AG since 1986 and 100% since 1998. The Rhine Valley is regarded as the warmest region in Germany and is therefore particularly suitable for vegetable cultivation. The season starts in April with the spinach harvest. This is followed by numerous herbs such as parsley, dill, chives and basil. In autumn, green cabbage, red cabbage, cauliflower, savoy cabbage and leek follow.
The high quality and hygiene standards are confirmed by numerous certificates such as DIN ISO 50001, IFS, BRC, MSC, RSPO and last but not least by an organic certificate in accordance with the EC regulation for organic farming. The proportion of organic vegetables in the Rheintal plant is already 20% and rising. Here we work together with various organic farming associations such as Bioland and GÄA.
The number of employees is 140, 6 of whom are trainees. During the harvest, up to 50 seasonal workers are additionally employed.
